Hunan Spring Buffet
About This Spot
Stepping into Hunan Spring Buffet feels like pausing in the heartbeat of Fergus Falls—a casual, unpretentious nook where the rush of the road softens and the warmth of a well-loved local spot takes over. Nestled quietly within a familiar strip mall setting, the restaurant invites a welcoming, steady rhythm. The place hums with a gentle buzz, a blend of folks settling in for a comforting meal with a familiar ease, their conversations weaving between the clink of plates and the quiet sizzle from the buffet line.
This is the kind of neighborhood restaurant that unfolds like an old friend’s kitchen. The atmosphere is simple and bright, yet cozy, marked by the friendly, attentive presence of staff who clearly care about the day-to-day flow and the moments shared around their food. Cleanliness and a sense of order linger throughout the space, creating a calm backdrop where you can savor the food without distraction.
What defines the experience here is a buffet spread that feels both familiar and generous—a reflection of classic Chinese comfort food made accessible for a community that loves variety and hearty portions. The offerings move from savory bites like crispy battered chicken and tender Mongolian beef to subtle vegetable blends and fragrant fried rice, each dish carrying a quiet honesty and homestyle appeal. For those stopping in on a midday break or an evening getaway from their routines, the buffet becomes more than a meal; it’s a moment of pause, a chance to connect with simple pleasures and the comforting textures of Asian-inspired flavors.
The bustle of choosing what comes next—perhaps a few wings, a scoop of soft ice cream for a sweet finish, or a humble plate of steamed green beans—echoes the easy, unhurried vibe of the place. It’s not about perfection or polish but about real, grounded enjoyment, the kind that leaves you with a satisfied fullness and the warmth of familiarity.
Hunan Spring Buffet carries with it the layered rhythms of its loyal visitors—locals who come back for both the food and the quiet joy of belonging somewhere steady. There’s an understated charm in that balance between consistency and the occasional little surprise, a quietly lived-in quality that makes this buffet a quietly cherished stop on any Fergus Falls journey.

I stopped, again, at one of my favorite oriental buffets, Hunan Springs Buffet off I-94 MN exit 54 (Fergus Falls) in the The Home Depot parking lot. Great $20 buffet! Stop in if you’re in the area and tell the owner, 谢谢…

My first visit here was fantastic. It wasn't too busy and the food was hot and yummy. However, it is difficult for me to give this place a 5 star review because some of my other visits have been not as good. Never outright bad, but just okay. The employees are really nice and they keep the place very clean. Sometimes the food is a hit or miss though, the meat can be a bit chewier one visit and deliciously tender the next. Never had an issue with the appetizers and desserts though, they are consistently good. Overall, there is some room for improvement but it's a nice place to meet with friends/family and chill. Good atmosphere. 4 stars!

Good place to stop and eat when going through town . (Edit on September 3 ) was back again and had the same as before and I think this time it was even better. I ate to much and felt very sluggish the rest of the day . I won’t be back for a while .

Been eating from these guys since when they were above the Vikings building area downtown with barley 10 dishes. I've grown up with them, some of the best humans this world can offer, love them and their food. Don't care what anyone says its the best place in our town by far. Just like all places yes, you can get some off times or sad looking/tasting food. But 95% of the time its quality and amazing, friendly staff and amazing owners. Simply cannot recommend enough.

They've been open many years, and i have always gotten good food ad service here. The food was hot n fresh, the buffet was constantly checked, refilled, and maintained. There are some GREAT foods here, the sesame chicken, the peanut chicken..... mmmmmm yum. The vegetables are crisp in the chicken broccoli, the chicken tender n flavorful. There is sushi and salads, big selection of hot quality foods, and desserts available. Tables are spread out to make it easy to walk, but able to hold large groups. We were able to carry on a conversation and enjoy the atmosphere. A great buffet I can happily recommend for all ages
